Day 121 - Denham to Kalbarri

Well, we left Denham this morning with only a light wind, sunny and warm.  It was pleasant driving down the Peron Peninsula as we said goodbye to Shark Bay, goodbye to the sand dunes, burridas, lagoons, cliffs, shells and oh so beautiful water.

We covered 370 km in all in our drive to Kalbarri.  As we travelled south we noticed the trees were higher, the shrubs larger and there were wild flowers everywhere.  Without notice, and to our great surprise, we burst upon acres and acres of newly planted wheat fields, pale green in comparison with the native shrubbery.

There were some fields of canola as well. These were barely a match for a field of yellow wildflowers a little further down the road.

The wildflowers were many and varied and it was impossible to capture all of them on photographs.  We have included a selection.

We are yet to see Kalbarri and check out its features but we know it is at the mouth of the Murchison River.  We can see the river from the caravan park and it looks a "fruitful" place for grey nomads.
