Today we did some administrative things in the morning and then joined friends for lunch and a tour around Canberra. Sadly the day was a bit overcast.
We lunched at the National Arboretum. The lunch venue was a magnificent, no cost spared building which overlooked a very large area of newly planted trees. The original arboretum was destroyed by bushfires and is being reestablished. What a site and sight it will be, when the trees are grown.

Our drive around Canberra gave us an indication of size and the beauty of its environment. Sadly it has been very dry. However the Molonglo River, as it meanders through the city, and Lake Burley Griffin somewhat belie the fact. We had a magnificent view of Canberra from the top of Mt Ainslie.

We would like to share one other thing we achieved today. We acquired a signed copy of a book our host had just published. The book, "Mirrors and Mazes: A guide through the climate change debate" is an easy to read record of carbon dioxide's position in the climate debate, with a scientific perspective. Details of the book are available on the website,
I intend to start reading my copy forthwith.
