After a flurry of activity in the morning, packing the van, leaving the unit secure and saying our goodbyes, we left Twin Waters at about 10.30am. We enjoyed morning tea with Shari and Jodie before hitting the highway. We did a sedate 189 km today, up the Bruce Highway to Gympie, then to Goomeri via Kilkivan.
We are overnighting at the Goomeri showgrounds. The van was still behind us when we arrived, so we must have the hitching mechanism right and there was nothing rolling about on the floor when we opened the van door. We are a bit cumbersome first day out, finding our way around each other, but we are still on talking terms, so it hasn't been all that bad.
We must say the countryside is in tip top condition. There is grass aplenty and the stock look very healthy.
We are in the Mary River valley and, so good is it now, we are lucky it was not flooded by the proposed dam.
The weather has been fantastic and hopefully this bodes well for the rest of our trip.
There was not a lot to photograph today, but just to give some practice at adding photographs into the blog, following is one of the road leading into Goomeri. Incidentally, the sign in the left foreground is advertising the famous Goomeri Pumpkin Festival, which, is held next Sunday. Sadly, we won't be present to roll the pumpkins down the main road.
