Day 2 - Benarkin to Gayndah

A sedate 252 km run through a countryside that has obviously benefited from recent rains, very green, dams nearly full and the lagoons supporting significant birdlife.  Highlights today included seeing Tarong Power Station and its related Meandu Mine, olive groves (hundreds of acres) and vineyards, some miniature horses at Nanango and the Bjelke Petersen Dam near Murgon. We are overnighting at a free camp at Gayndah on the banks of the Burnett River - citrus country.  There is a citrus fruit stall across the road.

  1. Wow, it's lovely countryside out there. Thanks to the recent rain I'm sure.
