Well, at 37 degrees, who would want to do anything but nothing, and that is what we did. We did, however, feel we should earn our keep for a bit so we did a short drive to the city centre and to one of the few lookouts in Port Augusta, McLellan Lookout. The town is very flat and there are no raised places to get a view, except from the water tower - and that was quite a steep climb to get to the top. At a guess, McLennan Lookout was no more than an 8m rise from the salt lake in front of it.
The view from the lookout was south down Spencer Gulf, past the Northern Power Station with a mountain range, probably the Middleback Range to the west.

We were rewarded with a quiet spectacle for our drive into the town centre for here they were conducting billy cart races in one of the main streets.

This was a quiet day but we convinced ourselves we deserved the rest. Tomorrow is another day.
