Much to our delight, today dawned bright and sunny and considerably warmer than yesterday. Today it reached a very pleasant 29 degrees. There were clouds but they were high and light. Today we were to travel 329 km to Gregory, our starting point for the run into Lawn Hill. The intention is to leave the van at Gregory and travel the 75km over dirt roads to Lawn Hill tomorrow.
Today we travelled through a changing countryside. We noticed there were more trees on the landscape and their size and number increased as we passed through areas that clearly transport runoff in the rainy season eg creeks and floodways. There was one large river we crossed, the Leichhardt. It is the border between the Shires of Carpentaria and Burke.
At one point we passed through an area of low hills and we could see green tinges in the grasses. The small hills must capture a little more of the rain.

183 km up the Burke Development Road from Cloncurry we came upon the Burke and Wills Roadhouse. This is a popular, and the only, meeting place for travellers. We lunched there before we turned northwest and travelled along the Wills Development Road for the remaining 146km run into Gregory.
We did see some wildflowers today. Maybe there would be more in Spring.
