Day 170 - Lake King to Esperance

260km today from Lake King to Esperance, a small dent in our long haul back to the east coast.

It was very cold this morning, eight degrees in the caravan and the sun was having very little success in breaking through the clouds.

Lake King caravan park was not the most salubrious of places and our camp site was a bit muddy to boot.

- although sun was there at that instance
However not 5m from our caravan door were some native flowers, which we photographed in the expectation that there wouldn't be much to photograph during the day.  The flowering gum was small but quite spectacular.  It would have looked even better in bright sunlight.

230914 Is there no end to the variety of colours and shapes?

230914 Green and yellow make blue?
Our expectations were realised except we did see a bottle brush on the roadside which caused us to stop.  Sadly it and its mates were not in full flower but they would be quite a sight in full bloom.  The flower buds were interesting in their own right.

We should comment that the cereal crops continued for the whole day, broken only on the occasions we passed through a hilly section.  We have no doubt what the main activity in Esperance will be.

We made it safely to Esperance and for a while, the sun came out.  We intend to spend a few days here.
