Last night it was extremely hot so we slept with the air conditioner on all night. It became a bit chilly in the morning and we woke to find a temperature outside of about 16 degrees with a very strong SE wind, a 180 degrees turnaround from the NW the day before.
After adjusting our bodies and our minds to this obvious and significant change we headed off on the short 57km drive from Cape Jervis to Victor Harbour. It was uneventful and was in fact pleasurable, as we drove across the undulating tableland, passing through fields with sheep and dairy cattle and rolls of newly cut silage dotting the landscape. We passed through some substantial government owned pine forests too.
It was not until just before we reached Victor Harbour that we came down from the tableland. We were met by a beautiful vista of the town of Victor Harbour with its foreshore stretching along Encounter Bay and Granite Island connected by causeway to the shore.

There was some sea mist blown in by the SE wind so the atmosphere was not as clear as one would have liked. It did clear a bit by the afternoon.
We took a 5 km drive in the afternoon to Rosetta Head, more commonly called the Bluff and the view of Victor Habour was all but a repeat of the view we had as we arrived.

On the western side of Rosetta Head is Petrel Bay and it too has a granite island, but it is not connected to the mainland.

Victor Harbour is a delightful place with some old world charm mixed admirably with some more modern developments. Clearly, tourism is its primary industry but it does it with some pizzaz. It won Australia's Tidy Town Award for 2013 and it shows. We are looking forward to a couple of days here.
