We awoke to a cool morning with a slight breeze, which progressed to a warm 30 plus degrees day. It was pleasant travelling with minimal traffic.
We nonetheless had an interesting day which included;
- An oversupply of emu dads with their chicks
- A lot of flat countryside
- Old buildings
- A railway overpass in the middle of nowhere
- A railway line which accompanied us for 200km
- A train on the railway line
- Some outback Australian humour
- Three fire engines which passed us going in the opposite direction, all with lights flashing, and wonder in our minds as to where they might be going
- A rare view of a wedge tail eagle
- Crossing the SA/NSW border at Cockburn

|
191114 Our first view of Broken Hill from the west |
We are in the outback again with saltbush plains stretching as far as the eye can see. At one time we passed by the Porcupine Range and just before Broken Hill, through the Thackaringa Hills, and of course, the Barrier Range. The Barrier Range did have a broken hill within it, and hence the name. It contained silver ore and has since been mined away.
Much to our surprise, Broken Hill runs on SA time.
There is plenty to see in Broken Hill.
