It was almost sunny this morning as we left Coles Bay for Bicheno, a mere 40km away. During the day a blustery NW wind came up and made the 16 degree maximum seem a little lot colder. The cloud thickened during the day, thus depriving us of the psychological and physical benefits of the sun's presence.
Our drive this morning took us through farming areas, predominantly sheep with occasional cattle. Bicheno is a very attractive town on the coast and is a fishing and holiday destination. Professional fishermen work out of Bicheno and we were able to buy fresh fish and scallops from the Fishermen's Co-op at the wharf.
We visited the major sights in the town, Waubs Bay, Whalers Lookout, the Gulch and the Blowhole in short order. We should add it was a steep walk up to Whalers Lookout but was absolutely worth the effort. The granite rocks, so evident at Coles Bay, appeared again and they made a beautiful contrast with the white sand and the blue water.

The move of the day was to buy home made scallop pies for lunch, a Tasmanian speciality. The scallops aplenty were in a delicate curry sauce in a light filo pastry, absolutely delicious.
The wind has chased us indoors early today but we are not arguing.
I remember visiting Bicheno. It was a lovely quaint fishing village. I recall it was freezing when I was there too!!
