It was fine and cold this morning, twelve degrees with a strong westerly wind.
The 67km drive down the eastern side of the Tamar River to Hadspen was uneventful. Hadspen is a small town about 15km SW of Launceston. After setting up camp and having lunch we headed off for a drive in the area south of Hadspen. Places we passed through included Longford, Perth and Evandale.
We struggled to find things worthy of photographing. This was not surprising as we were in relatively flat, river plain country. The bigger rivers were the South Esk and Macquarie Rivers. To each side of us as we drove south were, on the right hand side, the Central Highlands and on the left hand side, The Ben Lomond National Park.

Much to our surprise we came across a grain receiving site, much smaller than the ones in other states, so some of the fields we passed may well have been grain fields.

There were many sheep flocks and some cattle herds and, for the first time, we saw cattle yards and a small abattoir.

Not far from Longford we passed by the famous Tasmanian car racing circuit at Symmons Plains. There were cars on the circuit, probably doing time trials for Targa Tasmania, which starts this weekend. There are many road closures in the NE area of Tasmania for Targa Tasmania over the next few days.

Evandale is an historic town and it was beautifully maintained. We photographed two churches in the main street which demonstrate the way the town is presented. The church signs confirm, while the churches are for different denominations, the names are the same.

Today was a quiet day and we appreciated the change of pace.
