Day 57 Darwin

Today we headed to the more northerly points of Darwin's development, to Nightcliff and Lee Point.  There was a small jetty at Nightcliff which stretched out over the rocks on the foreshore.  The water was a beautiful aqua colour and it contrasted to the ochre, cream and white colours of the rocks.  The water was clear too and the sea mild mannered today, as it welled up over the rock platforms.  Currently there is no road north of Darwin beyond Lee Point.  The beach at Lee Point was untroubled by the presence of many human beings and, as usual, there was no one swimming there.  Gosh oh gee, the sand was hot though. It was brownish in colour and not at all like our southern Queensland beaches.  No surf of course.

Oh I almost forgot.  We had some compulsory retail therapy today.

Car service tomorrow, new tyres on Wednesday and then we are off south again on Thursday, with WA in our sights.
