Day 72 - Kununurra

A short 75km drive from Lake Argyle this morning had us in Kununurra.  It is a lovely town on the Ord River and is the centre for all the agriculture developments based on the Ord River Irrigation scheme.  At Kununurra there is a diversion dam which redirects the water from Lake Argyle  to the various irrigation centres.  Today we saw smallcrops and one of the key money earners, sandalwood.  This tree is parasitic and grows on other trees so in the fields there are just myriads of different trees with sandalwoods growing over them.  Hope to find out a bit more about these.

Today the weather has been simply beautiful, cloudless sky and warm.  We have escaped the wind at Lake Argyle which caused us a lot of discomfort over the last three days.

Nothing else to report today other than we were amused by the name of the caravan parked immediately behind us.
