The countryside was not inspiring, almost featureless save for
- some small spinifex covered hills,
- occasional rivers one only of which had significant water in it, the Maitland,
- the Devil Creek gas plant
- several natural gas stations on the Dampier to Bunbury Gas Pipeline
- a large iron ore mine, Mesa A
- and as we neared Onslow, many hectares of salt recovery ponds
The Wheatstone Natural Gas Project is not far from here but you can only see it via a once a week tour, on Sundays, and honestly, there is not enough to keep us occupied in Onslow for another four days.
We are staying in a old fashioned caravan park and we are only one caravan site from the beach, so it is lovely from that aspect. The beach leaves a little to be desired, a bit rocky in places, brown sand and no waves. The strong wind persists but we are quite sheltered.
